ASC 2024 Conference Chair Welcome
Welcome to ASC 2024 and welcome to Salt Lake City, Utah! On behalf of our organizing team, we are excited to invite you to join us at the Salt Palace Convention Center for the 2024 ASC Conference to be held September 1 – 6, 2024. Salt Lake City is a wonderful venue for our conference! The city is vibrant and offers numerous good restaurants, welcoming hotels and housing opportunities, and sights to explore (Utah is home to several, breathtaking national parks).
Our program chairs, Tiina Salmi and Hélène Felice, are preparing an excellent and exciting scientific program focused on the present and future of applied superconductivity and the numerous impacts our scientific endeavors can have on society at large.
In parallel, Anna Fox is leading our effort with the ELEVATE program offering opportunities for all participants for growth of both technical and professional skills. The ELEVATE program offers numerous opportunities for students and early career scientists to network and discover what a career in applied superconductivity might look like.
Overarching themes dear to us and connecting both the technical program and the ELEVATE program are our commitment to sustainability and to promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the scientific realm.

ASC 2024 Program Chairs' Welcome
We are very proud to welcome you at the ASC 2024 in Salt Lake City! The conference will offer a forum for sharing and discussing the latest updates and news in the field of applied superconductivity.
As the world is in a transition period regarding future energy systems and our life choices (the way we live, move, eat, build and power things), we would like to instigate discussions on how superconducting solutions can contribute to a more sustainable world and what can be done as a scientific community. If relevant, we encourage you to consider highlighting sustainability in your own presentations, whatever the category of your contribution.
We are working together with the conference chair, the Large Scale, Materials and Electronics topical chairs and with the scientific program committee members to create an inspiring technical program and a welcoming event for all attendees. We encourage your suggestions, so feel free to contact us! Check back for updates as the program develops, and our wholehearted welcome to Salt Lake City!

Welcome to the ASC 2024 ELEVATE Program. We are excited to host a series of events for students and early career professionals to facilitate networking, education, and visibility in Applied Superconductivity. As a preview, we look forward to offering the following events:
- Pre-conference virtual workshops on topics including preparing abstracts, writing and reviewing manuscripts featuring professionals in our community
- Programs in preparing graduate students for conference planning
- Programs in oral session moderating
- Short Courses at ASC 2024
- Early Career Plenaries
- Interactive student and YP/industry networking event
- DEI-themed storytelling event in collaboration with The Story Collider

Salt Palace Convention Center
Conveniently located in downtown Salt Lake City and only minutes from Salt Lake International Airport, the Salt Palace is easy to get to.
Many of the convention center’s most striking visual features were obtained through the creative use of hollow structural steel in exposed applications. The entrance towers, delicate snowflake chandeliers, and grand five-story main concourse make the Salt Palace part architectural showpiece, part modern art sculpture, and ready to be all business.
