ELEVATE

ELEVATE Mission Statement

Researchers within the field of Applied Superconductivity require a broad and diverse skill set, both technical and professional.  As the premier congregation of leaders and influencers within this field of study, the Applied Superconductivity Educational Foundation (ASEF) champions the continued growth of our community through our ELEVATE program.  Educational opportunities encompass best practices in technical research activities, as well as reviewing scientific abstracts, delivering good scientific presentations and wisely moderating conference sessions. ELEVATE also includes curated outreach activities to share the wonders of science with students of all ages during the technical conference and in the off season.  Also through the program we gain clarity through educating our membership on the continued importance of promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the scientific realm.

Whether you are a student, industry partner or seasoned researcher, the program organizers strive ‘to elevate’ your conference experience and your connection to our community. All ELEVATE activities are designed to enrich the field of Applied Superconductivity and those who interact within it, not just our bi-annual conference, but everyday.

Laptop Giveaway! As part of the ELEVATE Program, we are excited to announce we will be giving away four brand-new Lenovo ThinkBook laptop at the ASC 2022 Conference! To qualify and be entered into the drawing, you must attend at least two ELEVATE sessions held over the lunch hours Monday – Thursday, and one must be the Wednesday Student Paper Competition session.  We encourage everyone to attend these sessions at ASC 2022 and hope you will be one of the lucky four who return with a new Lenovo laptop!

ASC thanks the IEEE Council on Superconductivity for their leadership sponsorship of the ELEVATE program at ASC 2022.

The Applied Superconductivity Conference is pleased to welcome the IEEE Council on Superconductivity (CSC) as a major sponsor of the ELEVATE program at ASC 2022. For many years, CSC has been a leader in supporting and advancing the superconductivity community around the globe, and their investment in the ELEVATE program will ensure that the community continues to have access to high-quality professional development, student, and DEI programming.

The Council is a natural partner for ASC because CSC, supported by its 11 Member Societies, has its own broad array of scientific, technical, and outreach efforts that play a foundational role in ensuring a vibrant and healthy future for superconductivity. CSC publishes the IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity and the IEEE Transactions on Quantum Engineering, sponsors or supports a wide variety of conferences and workshops, and supports superconductivity-related summer schools worldwide. The Council was among the first in our field to recognize the importance of growing and diversifying the demographics of superconductivity researchers, engineers, and students, and to that end manages or supports its own robust set of Young Professional and student initiatives, Women in Engineering activities, and educational materials and videos.

More recently, the Council has supported the growth of the field of quantum computing through the aforementioned Transactions on Quantum Engineering, by supporting the IEEE Rebooking Computing initiative (with the IEEE Computer Society) and IEEE Quantum Week, and by supporting quantum-related technical presentations at conferences like ASC.
